Had a talk with a lawyer friend that made me rethink contract templates

She said using a generic boilerplate from a website is basically asking for a lawsuit, and that spending $500 on a custom contract saved her client $20k later. Has anyone else had a cheap template backfire on them?

Used to think templates were fine but this changed my mind honestly.

Man I thought I was slick using templates to save time but turns out I was just copy-pasting my own stupidity into every project.
