Just realized I was wrong about needing an LLC before my first client
I put off taking on a $1,800 freelance gig for two months because I thought I needed to form an LLC first, and the client got tired of waiting and found someone else. Then my cousin who runs a landscaping business in Boise told me she operated as a sole prop for three years before she ever filed anything. She said the real thing that saved her was a plain contract with a payment schedule and a late fee clause, not the LLC paperwork. I looked it up and she's right, a simple written agreement covers way more of the stuff that actually goes wrong. Has anyone else waited on the wrong legal step and lost work because of it?
