Paid a lawyer $1,800 to review my first vendor contract and it was worth every cent
I run a small candle business out of my garage in Portland and signed up with a fragrance supplier back in March. Their contract was 14 pages and I almost just signed it because I didn't want to pay for a lawyer. My cousin talked me into a $1,800 contract review with a local business attorney instead. She found a clause that let the supplier raise prices with 15 days notice and another one that locked me in for 2 years with no way out. I got both of those cut before signing, so the $1,800 probably paid for itself in the first price hike I dodged. Anyone here ever skip the review and regret it, or am I overthinking how often this stuff comes up?
