Paid a lawyer $450 to look over a lease before I signed, and I'm still not sure if it saved me or just made me paranoid
Landlord sent over a 12 page commercial lease for a second bay I wanted to rent. My gut said something was off with the maintenance clause. So I paid a local guy $450 for an hour of his time. He flagged a line that would've stuck me with roof and HVAC repairs, and got the landlord to cap my share at $2k a year. Felt like a win at the time. But now every time I look at the thing I wonder if I would've caught it myself or if I just paid a guy to read what I already kinda knew. Anybody else drop money on legal review like this, or do you just sign and hope for the best?
