Picked a flat fee lawyer over hourly for my LLC, saved about $300 in the first month.

I was stressing over startup costs for my small bakery in Portland so I went with a flat fee attorney instead of the hourly guy my friend used, and honestly the lack of surprise bills made the whole registration process way smoother, has anyone else tried this route and found it worth it?

Flat fee is the way to go unless you enjoy having anxiety dreams about billing increments. My buddy went hourly for his food truck and now he jokes that his lawyer charges more per minute than his truck makes during lunch rush. Nothing makes you question your life choices like paying thirty bucks just to hear "yeah you need to file that form by Friday." Your bakery dodged a bullet there, now you can spend that saved stress on figuring out why your sourdough starter died again.

Oh man, flat fee was the right move. I went with an hourly guy for my first LLC and spent half the time trying to figure out if I could afford another fifteen-minute phone call just to ask a simple question. Ended up paying twice what I should have because I was too scared to ask the basic stuff. Flat fee means you can call them up and say "hey, what about this dumb form" without watching the meter run. Your bakery is going to be better off not worrying about surprise legal bills on top of figuring out flour prices.
