Remember when you could just shake hands on a deal?

About five years back, I had a supplier agreement for my small shop that was basically a one-page email. Fast forward to now, and the same kind of deal with a new vendor is a 15-page contract full of data privacy and liability clauses. The shift really started after some big data breach laws changed, and now everyone's lawyers are super careful. Has anyone else had to completely redo their basic service contracts because of this?
