Showerthought: I blew off a $300 contract flat fee in Nashville thinking it was a scam, then read the fine print
A lawyer quoted me $300 flat for a one page vendor agreement 6 months ago and I laughed it off as too cheap to be real. I sat on it for 2 weeks, then signed after she walked me through what she'd flag, and the contract came back with a liability cap that would've cost me way more than $300 if a client ever sued. Turns out flat fee doesn't mean cut rate, it just means she's done the same doc 400 times and knows where the traps are. Now I'm wondering what else I've been overpaying hourly for, any of you use flat fee lawyers for small stuff?
