That bad week where my freelance contracts went sideways over a comma

Last month I had a client try to slide out of paying me $3,200 because of one missing comma in the payment schedule. Their lawyer sent a 6 page email arguing my invoice wasn't valid. I spent 4 days digging through my old emails and texts to prove we agreed on net 30. Did anyone else have a client try to nitpick your contract language after the work was done?

Hate when they try that loophole nonsense after the work is already done.

Used to think they were just being clever, but yeah you're totally right on this one.

Exactly, they always try to pull some technicality after the fact. Like they'll agree to a price and scope upfront, but then when you deliver, suddenly they're like "well actually the contract said this one tiny thing differently." It's exhausting dealing with people who think they're lawyers when they're just being cheap.
