Took me 11 weeks to get my LLC's operating agreement notarized right (yes, 11)
I finally got my LLC's operating agreement signed and notarized last week, and it only took me 11 weeks to get it done right. The problem was my state requires a specific notary block on the signature page, and the free template I pulled offline had the wording for a different state. My bank rejected the first version, then a second notary would not touch it, and I ended up driving to a title office in Mesa that does business docs. Cost me $75 in notary fees across three tries plus a lot of lunch breaks. If you are forming an LLC, check your state's secretary of state site for the exact acknowledgment wording first. Has anyone else run into notaries refusing a doc over one wrong sentence?
Man, 11 weeks and $75 hurts just reading it. Notaries can be weird about wording, and the bank being picky on top of it makes it worse. Mine wouldn't sign until I printed out the state page and showed her the exact sentence, which felt dumb but worked. Checking the secretary of state site first like you said is the move, I wish someone had told me that before my first try.
