Was reading a standard boilerplate contract and found a clause about 'acts of God' that specifically excludes 'zombie uprisings'.

Pretty sure lawyers just add that stuff for fun (or to make the contract look more thorough). Doubt anyone's actually tried to claim a zombie uprising damaged the property.

That's amazing. Saw a rental agreement once that had a line about "hostile wildlife" not covering "swarms of locusts or werewolves." Makes you wonder what happened to make them add that. Lawyers must have a weird sense of humor, or someone actually tried to claim a werewolf ate their security deposit.

Totally believe it. My old lease had a clause about not using the fireplace for "ritual sacrifices or summoning circles." Like, what neighbor complaint led to that? These things always come from somewhere. Makes you want to see the old tenant files.
