A client's question about drawer slides changed how I measure everything

Last Thursday I was installing some soft-close slides for a kitchen remodel over in Maplewood. The homeowner asked why I was measuring twice when the slides came with those little jigs. I laughed it off at first, but then I realized he had a point. I've been fighting with those jigs for years because they never fit my layout, so I just default to manual measuring every time. Now I'm testing the jig on a few scrap pieces to see if it actually speeds things up for me. Anyone else stuck in an old habit that a customer made them question?

Those jigs burned me on a euro drawer once, but this makes me want to give them another shot.
