Dropped $180 on a dovetail jig that sits in my shop collecting dust
Honestly, about 8 months ago I got talked into buying a $180 dovetail jig at a woodworking show in Columbus because the demo guy made it look effortless, and I have used it maybe twice since. The setup takes forever and my hand cut joints actually look better, so I just ate the loss and shoved it on a shelf. Has anyone else bought a tool at a show that ended up being a paperweight, or am I the only sucker here?
My buddy did the same thing with a biscuit joiner at a show in Indy. Guy made it look like magic, then my friend got it home and realized he could count on one hand the times he actually needed it. Now it lives under his bench next to the other regrets.
