Heard a young guy say hand-cut dovetails are pointless, made me rethink my whole approach

At a tool swap in Columbus last Saturday, this 20-something said nobody pays for hand-cut joints anymore, then he showed me a jig setup that cut a perfect box joint in 4 minutes, and now I'm wondering if my 12 years of dovetail practice is just nostalgia, anyone else felt that sting?
