That fancy Blumotion hinge adjustment trick I was dead wrong about
For like 2 years I swore the little screw on the side of those Blum hinges was just for show. Thought it did nothing real. Then last month I had a job in Minneapolis where a whole row of cabinet doors was drooping just a little bit. Old guy on site walks over, grabs a tiny flathead, turns that screw maybe a quarter turn on each hinge. Boom. Doors were perfect. I felt like an idiot. He laughed and said I was probably the 20th guy he'd shown that to. So yeah that adjustment actually works and it saved me from pulling 16 doors off and shimming everything. Anybody else skip reading the directions on hardware for way too long?

Wait did you really think the screw was just decorative? I used to think the same thing for about a year honestly. I assumed it was some kind of factory setting that you weren't supposed to touch because it was sealed from the factory. Then I had a set of uppers that were just slightly out of level and a buddy came over and showed me the exact same trick. Quarter turn on each hinge and they were perfect. I felt pretty stupid too but now I check that screw first on every install.

Wait, did you try it on those Blumotion hinges that have that little plastic tab on the back too? I had a set of doors that drove me nuts for months, kept thinking the catch was going bad. Turns out I was just cranking the wrong screw the whole time. That quarter turn fix is a lifesaver once you know where to look.
