Went to a high-end furniture store and saw my own work on the floor for 4x what I charge
Last Saturday I popped into a fancy showroom downtown (the kind with polished concrete floors and spotlights) just to see what they had. Turns out they were selling an almost identical shaker nightstand to one I built three months ago for a client. Mine had better joinery honestly, dove tails instead of their box joints. Theirs was priced at $1,200 and I only got $450 for mine including delivery. Has anyone else walked into a store and seen their own style being sold for crazy money? How do you deal with that feeling of undervaluing your work?

I got $450 for mine" - man that stings. You're right that the retail markup is brutal, but they're paying for the showroom and the brand name. Take it as a sign you could probably bump your prices up a bit.

Used to think markup was robbery, but @michael_coleman10, you changed my mind.
