A customer's comment about my work yesterday made my week
I was finishing up a job in a tight attic crawlspace, running a new line to a bedroom. The homeowner, an older guy, came up to check on me and said, 'You know, I watched three other guys try to fish that line last year and they all gave up. You made it look easy.' I just smiled and said thanks, but it felt good to hear. That crawlspace was maybe 18 inches high and full of old insulation. What's the most satisfying feedback you've gotten from a customer lately?

That "story just like that" feeling happens a lot. It makes you wonder how many basic plots we're all just recycling. The real trick is putting a fresh spin on the old ideas.

What was it about the way you worked that made the difference where the others failed? Was it your technique with the fish tape, or just being willing to suffer in that insulation longer?
