I finally gave in and tried a coax compression tool after 3 years of using the cheap crimp style
Always figured the compression fittings were just overpriced hype, but after fighting with loose connectors on a big job last Tuesday I grabbed a Klein model off the truck and wow did it save me from redoing a dozen terminations. Has anyone else made the switch and found they'll never look back at crimps?

Wait, does that mean I've been telling everyone I use compression when it's really just a fancy crimper?

Oh man, you are not alone with that one! I bought my first "compression tool" off the truck and spent a whole weekend confused as hell before I realized I had the wrong setup. Felt real dumb when I finally looked up the Klein-Kurve line and saw the difference.

I gotta say, calling that Klein model a "compression tool" is a little off. Klein makes a great crimp tool, but their compression fittings are actually from their different line, the Klein-Kurve stuff. I made the same mistake when I first bought mine, thought I was getting into compression but ended up with a really nice crimper instead. It's an easy mix up since they look similar on the truck shelf, but the actual compression ones use those little O-rings and a different die setup.
