I watched three different guys this month try to pull cable through a 3/4-inch conduit without a fishtape first.

They all ended up with a nasty birdsnest that took an extra hour to fix, so just spend the 30 seconds to run the tape, seriously, has anyone else seen this happen lately?

Is it that big of a deal though? I've just pulled it through by hand before.

Actually, pulling it by hand can damage the wires inside. Better to use the right tool for the job.
