My most awkward install involved a customer's pet parrot
I was doing a routine cable install in a living room last week. The customer had a parrot that kept repeating everything I said. Every time I told my partner what tool I needed, the parrot would squawk it back. It got so bad that I started mixing up my words to avoid the echo. The customer thought it was hilarious, but it slowed us down a lot. Has anyone else dealt with noisy pets during jobs? What's the best way to keep focused when things like this happen?

Did you ever try using headphones? I got a cheap pair of wireless earbuds for jobs like that. I'll play some boring white noise or quiet music, nothing with words. It blocks out the random barks, squawks, or kid cartoons blasting in the next room. Lets me just focus on my own work list without the extra noise.

God, sometimes even headphones can't save you. I was deep in some paperwork yesterday and my neighbor started doing demolition in his garage. Every bang made me jump a mile.

It's wild how much modern life is just building little sensory bubbles for yourself. Noise-canceling everything feels like a required skill now.
