Paid $150 for a fancy cable toner and it barely worked in tight spaces
I bought a mid-range toner last spring thinking it would save me time on apartment runs, but it kept losing signal through shared walls and bundled lines. Anyone else had better luck with the basic models that just use a single tone?

My buddy Mike bought a $20 Amazon special and it works better through three drywall layers than my name-brand one. He just laughs at me now every time we're chasing coax in a basement.

Three drywall layers? Man, that's a lot of drywall. I've seen guys double up for soundproofing but three is wild. I'd be laughing at you too if my $20 doodad punched through that while your fancy rig just sits there blinking. Honestly makes you wonder what we're all paying for with those brand names sometimes.
