Pro tip: spent 3 hours chasing a bad signal that turned out to be one rusty splitter behind a couch
Had a service call off Highway 9 in Bellingham last month where the whole house had pixelated channels and I kept swapping coax ends at the box. Turned out the drop was fine the whole time, a corroded 2 way splitter buried behind the living room couch was eating the signal. I now carry a cheap toner and always ask the customer to move the furniture before I start testing. Anyone else got a go to first check that keeps you from chasing ghosts?
