Shoutout to the guy who let me borrow his fish tape in the rain

Last Thursday in Portland I was stuck on a second story run with a busted fish tape and this old timer from Comcast just handed me his spare without saying a word. Finished the job in 15 minutes flat. Anybody else run into random kindness like that on the job?

Busted fish tape in the rain" is basically my life story, except for me it's always my ladder slipping in mud. That Comcast guy's a legend though.

Used to think Comcast guys just had it easy compared to us low voltage guys. @robert_bell, this story totally flipped that around for me. Dealing with rain and a busted fish tape at the same time sounds like a nightmare, I give him major credit for sticking it out. I guess every trade has its own kind of awful weather days.

Leo makes a good point but he's got it backwards. That Comcast guy isn't the exception, he's the rule. Every cable tech I've met works in worse conditions than most people realize. They're crawling through attics in July and digging lines in freezing rain right alongside the rest of us. Low voltage work doesn't have a monopoly on hard days, trust me.
