Switched from fish sticks to a telescoping wall fish rod 6 months ago

I used to just use plain steel fish tape for everything even interior walls. After I got a telescoping rod with a magnetic tip for a job in a Denver office building it cut my time in half. Has anyone else made that switch and noticed a difference on residential work?

I mean it's a fishing rod not brain surgery, is it really making that big a difference or just feel like you're getting stuff done faster?

The right tool mindset saves you hassle later, @the_linda's got the right of it.

A telescoping rod and a fish tape are really two different tools for two different jobs, though. Fish tape is great for long straight pulls in conduit or between floors, but a telescoping rod is way better for getting through wall cavities with insulation or fire blocking because you can push it around obstacles. The magnetic tip is a game changer too, lets you grab chains or pull wires back through without having to dig for them. It's not just about feeling faster, the rod actually lets you work in places a steel tape would just get stuck or tangled up.
