That old compression tool I've had since '09 finally gave up the ghost last Thursday...
I was finishing a line in a crawlspace when the crimp just folded over, leaving me to hand-tighten the connector with pliers and hope it held until I could grab a new one from the van.

Miles asking if you ever named the old tool got me. It's part of a bigger thing where we give human traits to stuff that's just reliable. We don't name the brand new drill, we name the one that's been through every job and just won't quit. It's a weird little thank you for the years of service, like the tool earned a spot in the crew. When it finally breaks, it feels like losing a coworker, not just replacing a thing.
