Unpopular opinion: attic runs beat crawlspace runs in old houses, and I'll die on that hill
Three weeks ago I had a job in Cleveland Heights, a 1920s duplex with knob and tube everywhere and a crawlspace that was basically a mud pit. The homeowner wanted me to run the new line under the house because that's what the last guy did, but I pushed for the attic route instead. Took me 4 hours through blown insulation and I was coughing fiberglass for two days, but the run came out clean with zero splices and no water risk. Crawlspaces in these old homes flood every spring and I've pulled too many soggy cables out of them. Anyone else go attic over crawl when the customer swears the basement route is easier?
