Unpopular take on using silicone spray for pulling cable

I keep seeing guys swear by silicone spray for running cable through conduit, but I had a job last month near Austin where it caused nothing but trouble. We pulled 300 feet of cat6 through a 2-inch PVC run, and the spray made the jacket tacky after 24 hours. Three days later, we had to yank it all out because the cable bonded to the conduit walls. The general contractor was furious, cost us $600 in labor. Has anyone else run into this with silicone spray on longer runs?

Buddy of mine had that same problem in San Antonio.

Wait till you check if your neighborhood has a HOA that's super strict about solar panel placement on south-facing roofs. My cousin in Phoenix got hit with fines because his panels were "too visible from the street" even though they were on the back half of his roof. San Antonio's sun is brutal too, so maybe his panels are producing way more than he needs but the HOA rules are stopping him from adding battery storage in his garage or an exterior wall. Could be that the installer didn't check local deed restrictions before mounting everything and now he's stuck paying penalties he never saw coming.

Honestly I used to think HOA complaints were overblown but your cousin's situation proves they can really mess with solar plans.
