Guy at the Columbus camera show told a customer to open the back with the shutter cocked, and I had to step in
Last Saturday at the Columbus camera show I heard a seller tell a new buyer to just pop the back open on a Barnack Leica whenever he wanted, no need to worry about the shutter. I cut in because winding first and cracking it open on a cocked shutter is how you clip the curtain, and that buyer would have been back in a month with a $150 repair. How do you all handle it when you hear bad advice like that in the wild, do you jump in or let it go?
