Had a tough call on a lens repair this week
A customer brought in a camera with a cracked lens element and wanted a cheap, generic replacement to save cash. I knew it would likely fail soon and hurt the camera's performance. I told them the truth and offered to find the right part, even if it took more time. They agreed, and I got the proper part in today, which felt like a small win for doing honest work. Have you ever had to choose between a fast fix and a good repair?

Though honestly, generics can work fine sometimes lol.

That "small win for doing honest work" really hits home because it's so true in repair jobs! I get what @claire_gibson says about generics sometimes working, but your way saves a lot of trouble down the line. Choosing the good repair over the fast one is always worth it.

Honestly, that 'small win for doing honest work' thing @willowh20 mentioned is exactly how I feel. It's so easy to go for the quick fix, but taking the time to do it right just feels better in the long run. Tbh, I've seen too many shortcuts come back to bite people later. Choosing the good repair might take more effort now, but it saves so much hassle down the line. Ngl, that sense of pride when you know you did a solid job is worth every extra minute.
