Hit 500 shutter repairs last week and it got me thinking
I kept a tally on a whiteboard in my shop and crossed 500 shutter repairs on a beat-up Nikon FM from the 80s. Anyone else track their numbers and get surprised by how much work you've actually done?

Saw a forum post claiming shutter repair numbers are like body counts for camera nerds, and @wesley181 your doodle proves it.

500 shutters is a solid milestone but also means I've spent way too many hours hunched over a workbench with tweezers wondering if I remembered to eat lunch. My own tally is probably closer to 350 and I'm convinced half of those were the same Pentax K1000 that keeps finding its way back to me from some parallel dimension. Every time I crack open a repair, I have this little internal celebration followed by the grim realization that I'm basically a glorified tiny gear polisher with a screwdriver. My whiteboard currently has 347 crossed off but also a doodle of a camera crying that I drew after a particularly stubborn Canon AE-1. Congratulations on hitting 500 though, that's a whole lot of shutter cobs and seized up mirror boxes that didn't stand a chance against your persistence.
