Just found out older Canon shutters fail differently than I assumed
Got a beat up Canon F-1 in for a CLA and noticed the shutter speeds were all off at 1/1000 and 1/2000. Dug into the service manual from 1971 and saw the titanium shutter is supposed to be checked for stretched rivets, not just cleaned. I always figured it was dried grease causing slow speeds, but this specific model has a known rivet wear issue that shows up around 50k actuations. Curious if other repair folks here saw the same thing with the F-1 or the F-1n, or if I just got a weird copy that was hammered on.

Nah, probably just dirty grease, rivets are fine at 50k.

Grease gets nasty way before 50k, same thing happened to mine.
