Pro tip: stop buying those 'precision' screwdriver sets off Amazon for camera work

I dropped $45 on a 64-bit set that stripped out on the third Yashica shutter screw I touched, so has anyone found a brand that actually holds up past a single repair?

Does @tylerpark's Wiha set come with a money-back guarantee for when I inevitably lose one in the couch cushions? My Amazon specials are currently serving as very expensive pry tools.

@hugo_robinson25 I'd bet you lose that Wiha bit inside a sofa cushion within a month, but at least you'd know it was quality while you had it! My question for @tylerpark is how do those Wiha bits handle the really tight screws on old lenses, like the ones that need a #00 or even a #000? I've had cheap sets snap tips off on those, but I'm curious if the higher end stuff actually survives the torque without twisting. The last thing I want after dropping $60-$70 on a set is having to baby it around the tiniest screws.

Are you talking about the Wiha or Wera sets? I used to think brand name screwdrivers were a waste of money, but I learned the hard way after a cheap set mangled a screw on an old Minolta and cost me a whole repair job. These days I dont cheap out on the tools that touch the screws themselves. I picked up a Wiha set a couple years back and it still feels brand new, even after taking apart a couple dozen old rangefinders. Definitely worth the extra cash for the right material.
