Spent $1200 on a digital shutter tester and it was a total game changer

Back in the day, you had to guess. Listen for the click, maybe use a light meter trick. Took forever. Bought this digital unit about three years ago. It hooks right up to the camera's circuit. Shows you the exact shutter speed on a screen. Down to the millisecond. Found a sticky slow speed curtain on a Nikon F3 that was off by a full stop. Would have never caught that by ear. Paid for itself in a month with the repair jobs it helped me nail down. Anyone still using the old sound methods, or have you all switched over too?

Down to the millisecond" is exactly why I finally switched too.

Lily70, what was the worst lag you ever timed?

Right? The millisecond thing is so real. I used to have my old laptop freeze for a full two seconds every time I hit save. It made me crazy. Switching fixed that exact lag.
