Spent a whole afternoon chasing a tiny screw that wasn't even missing
I mean, this was just dumb. A guy brought in an old Pentax K1000 last week, said the film advance lever felt gritty. I get it on the bench, take the top plate off, and a tiny flathead screw from the lever assembly just pings off into the void. I spent like 3 hours looking for it, moving my whole bench, checking my shoes, the floor, everything. I finally give up and order a replacement part. It shows up today, I go to put it in, and the original screw is just sitting there, stuck in a blob of old grease inside the housing. It never left the camera. I just didn't see it. Has anyone else ever lost their mind over a part that was right in front of them the whole time?

That grease is a master of disguise.

Tried wiping it up with a paper towel and just made it worse. Had to hit it with some dish soap and a scrub brush first, then wipe. The hot water trick never works for me, it just spreads the film around.

Used to think soap was overkill until this exact thing happened.
