TIL a weird trick for fixing lens fungus without disassembly

A customer had a lens with haze from fungus, and I tried using a UV light to kill it instead of opening it up. It worked pretty well, but now I'm torn between methods. Some repairers say UV is fine for mild cases and avoids risk of messing up the alignment. Others insist a full clean is the only way to guarantee no comeback. What do you all think, quick fixes or always go deep?

Have you tested the lens in different lighting after UV treatment?

Check for lens flare in backlit situations.

Go with UV first, open it up if the haze comes back. Why not try the easier fix?
