I finally see why people hate those cheap sleeping bag liners
I always thought buying the $15 sleeping bag liner was fine. Then I spent a night at a site near Lake Tahoe last month where it got down to 40 degrees. Buddy of mine had a nice Sea to Summit liner and he was cozy while I was shivering in my cheap one. He showed me the weight difference and how his packed down way smaller too. Has anyone else had a cheap liner ruin a solid trip?

@anthony_campbell88 is on the money. Cheap liners are trash bags with a different label. The fabric is basically the same as a painters drop cloth, zero insulation value.

Read somewhere that cheap liners are basically just glorified trash bags.

Nah man you're being way too hard on cheap liners lol. I've used those 10 dollar ones from Home Depot for years and they hold up just fine for general construction debris. Sure they might tear if you're tossing in old pipes or chunks of drywall with nails sticking out, but for regular renovation cleanup they do the job. Plus when you factor in that you're just gonna toss the whole thing anyway, spending 30 bucks on a heavy duty liner for mixed waste seems like overkill. The key is just doubling them up if you're worried about leaks or sharp edges, then you're basically getting the same protection for half the price.
