I finally tried that cheap sleeping pad my buddy swore by and it was a disaster
My friend Dave kept saying the $30 foam pad from Amazon was just as good as my old Therm-a-Rest (which finally sprang a leak). First night out in Shenandoah last weekend, I woke up at 2 AM every rock digging into my hip through that thin thing. Anyone else get tricked by a budget recommendation that left you sore for days?

That $30 foam pad is really just for summertime car camping, not rocky ground like Shenandoah.

Did you see that review saying it barely cushioned even on flat ground?

Nope, saw that one. Took one step on it at REI and felt the ground right through. That foam pad is a joke unless you're sleeping on grass or something. My buddy brought it on a trip to Dolly Sods and woke up sore all over. Save the $30 and get a cheap inflatable instead, even the basic Klymit is miles better.
