Just realized my new sleeping bag rating was a total lie on Mount Hood

I bought a Summit Ridge '20 degree' bag for a late spring trip up to Timberline Lodge. The temp dropped to 35 and I was shivering all night, my old thermometer doesn't lie. Learned the hard way that some brands are really optimistic with their ratings. Has anyone found a truly honest 20-degree bag that won't break the bank?

Check the EN limit rating, not just the comfort rating. That's the real number for when you stop shivering.

My buddy froze his butt off too. @roberts95 is right about the EN rating.

My old sleeping bag had a terrible EN limit rating but I was fine down to 15 degrees. @roberts95 puts too much faith in a lab test. Real world use with a good pad and layers beats a number on a tag every time.
