My old sleeping bag weighed 7 pounds, last month I finally swapped it out

I had this ancient Coleman bag from 2012 that I thought was fine. Took it on a 4-day trip in the Smokies and my pack felt like a brick. Got a 2-pound down bag off a clearance sale and the difference in how I felt hiking in was insane. Has anyone else noticed how much lighter gear has gotten over the last 10 years or just me?

Honestly the weight difference is no joke. I had a bag from like 2010 that was 5 pounds and I just thought that was normal. Finally snagged a 2 pound down bag last year and my back was so grateful. It's weird how you don't realize how heavy stuff is until you swap it out. The new materials are just way better, no more waking up cold either. Totally get why you're stoked on the change.

My buddy Mike swapped his old bag for a lightweight one and said it felt like carrying a cloud.
