My tent poles snapped in a storm near Asheville, what do you carry for backup?

Wind gust hit around 2am on the Blue Ridge Parkway last month and two poles on my dome tent cracked like twigs. I ended up duct taping splints made from a hiking stick, but I'm wondering if anyone swears by a specific pole repair kit or spare pole set for emergencies?
