Overheard a guy at REI trashing a tent I've owned for 3 seasons

Was picking up fuel canisters at the Portland REI and this guy told his friend my exact tent model was garbage in rain because of the single wall design. I've slept through two downpours at Timothy Lake with zero leakage, so I kind of wanted to jump in. Does condensation build-up vary that much by climate or is he just repeating what he read online? Has anyone else had a tent get unfairly roasted by someone who never actually used it?
