PSA: my old Coleman lantern finally gave up the ghost after 15 years
I tried a cheap LED conversion kit from Amazon, and the light is way brighter and whiter than I expected, almost too harsh for a campsite. Has anyone else swapped an old gas lantern and found a warmer LED option that feels more like firelight?

Warm white" LEDs are actually pretty easy to find now.

Totally get what @ray_miller84 means about that hospital light feeling. Finding a warm white bulb is easy, but finding one that actually feels warm and soft is the real trick. They all promise a cozy glow but so many still have that harsh, blue tint hiding underneath. You end up buying three different brands before you find one that doesn't make your living room look like a supermarket aisle. It shouldn't be this hard to get light that just feels nice, right?

Man, you traded that soft, warm glow for what sounds like a hospital operating room light! Isn't that always the way with these cheap LED swaps? They give you all the brightness but none of the soul. You went looking for a cozy campfire and got a dentist's waiting room instead. Maybe try looking for ones labeled "warm white" or "amber," but good luck finding one that actually feels right.
