Vent: my $180 sleeping pad got a slow leak on night 2 of a 4 night trip in Shenandoah
Bought a pad back in March for around $180 because the reviews all said it was tough and warm. Took it to Shenandoah last month for a 4 night trip and on night 2 I woke up at 3am basically on the ground. Spent the next morning blowing it up in the creek to find bubbles and yep, tiny pinhole near the valve. Patched it with the sticker kit in the dark, which held for maybe 6 hours. Night 3 same deal, flat by morning. I ended up doubling up my buddy's old closed cell foam pad under it just to sleep. Now I'm second guessing whether I should keep patching this thing or just eat the loss and go back to foam. Has anyone had a leak near the valve that actually stayed fixed after patching? Or is that spot just done for?

Ugh, that valve leak is the worst. Mine did the same thing and what finally worked was cleaning the spot with alcohol, then using a real patch (not the sticker) with a hot iron to press it down, been holding for two seasons now. The valve area flexes a lot so the sticker kits just peel right off, but a proper glued patch can actually hold if you prep it right.
