A founder in a Calgary coffee shop told me 'the real product is trust, not the app' back in 2018.

We were talking about his early-stage payments tool, and that line stuck with me more than any pitch deck. Anyone else have a simple piece of advice that shaped how you see fintech now?

Saw an article about how some of these apps are basically just pretty front ends for sketchy backend banks. Your money's only as safe as the actual bank holding it.
