Had to pick between two Calgary-based payment APIs for a side project
One had a slick demo but weirdly slow response times, the other looked like it was built in 2008 but worked perfectly. I went with the ugly one and haven't had a single failed transaction in six months. Anyone else had a similar 'function over form' win with a local tool?

My cousin's bakery uses this clunky old inventory system that never loses a single cupcake order.

My buddy runs a small landscaping business and needed a scheduling app. He tried one with all the fancy animations and a slick map feature, but it kept dropping appointments. Switched to this other one that looked like a spreadsheet someone forgot about, but it texts his clients and has never missed a beat. He says the ugly green buttons are his favorite thing now.

Which Calgary API did you end up going with? I'm always looking for reliable tools that just work, even if they aren't pretty. Was the slower one a newer company trying to look fancy?
