Had to pick between two payment processors for our Calgary launch
We were deciding between a big name and a smaller Canadian one, and we went with the local option. It saved us about 15% on cross-border fees, which was huge for our first 100 customers. Anyone else choose a homegrown tool over a giant and have it work out?

How much did you save on those cross-border fees, because that sounds like a game changer. We swapped out a big payment system for a smaller one based in Toronto last year and it was the best move we made. The support team actually answers the phone and knows our business by name, which you just don't get with the giants. That local touch and keeping more money in our account made the switch totally worth it.

Yeah but what about scaling up later? That local support is great now, but can their tech handle 10x the traffic without those big system outages?

But honestly, is saving 15% on fees really the whole story? Those big processors have their problems, but they also handle huge volume without a hiccup. I get what @taylorc40 is saying about support, but stability matters too. Sometimes you pay for the peace of mind that the system won't crash on a big sales day. The local option sounds nice until you hit a weird tech glitch their small team can't fix fast.
