Question about the focus on Toronto for fintech funding
Everyone talks about Toronto as the only hub, but I've seen more real innovation coming out of Montreal's AI and payments scene lately. Companies like Flinks, based there, are solving data connectivity problems that Toronto firms are just starting to address. The difference is a deeper tech focus versus chasing the same consumer banking trends. Has anyone else found better opportunities outside the GTA?

I moved to Vancouver last year and found their blockchain scene way more open to early stage ideas. We got our first real funding from a local angel group focused on crypto infrastructure, something Toronto VCs kept calling too niche. The community here is smaller but way more willing to bet on deep tech over just another banking app. It feels like being in a specialized workshop instead of a giant crowded market.
