Saw a stat that only 14% of fintech funding in Canada last year went to startups with female founders. Found it in a report from the National Bank.

My friend pitched her fintech idea to a room full of investors last year. They kept asking her about "market risks" in a way they never did with the male-led pitches right before hers. That stat doesn't surprise me at all, honestly.

A 2017 Harvard study broke down investor Q&A. Found they ask men about "potential gains" and women about "potential losses." Same business plan. So it's not just a feeling, it's a pattern. They frame the whole conversation around what could go wrong with her, not what could go right.

Sounds like a stretch to me. Investors ask everyone tough questions, that's their whole job. Maybe she just got a rough panel.
