For the first year and a half of my payments startup in Kitchener, I tracked every invoice and expense in one Google Sheet that had 14 tabs and a color code only I understood. My co-founder called it "the beast" and refused to open it. Last month I finally signed up for a real bookkeeping tool and it pulled three months of transactions in about 20 minutes, including the Stripe fees I'd been rounding by hand. I sat there staring at my old sheet wondering why I fought it for so long. Has anyone else held onto a janky spreadsheet way past the point where it made sense?
