A senior accountant told me I was formatting P&L statements wrong for 4 years

She said my category groupings made it impossible to compare month over month trends without rewriting the whole thing. Has anyone else had a simple formatting tweak totally change how managers actually use your reports?

Yeah, happens all the time. Small tweaks make a huge difference for how managers read them.

Happened with my taxes once - used the SAME wrong category for three years and nobody said a word until the audit came. It's like people just accept what's in front of them until something forces them to actually LOOK.
