Hit a wall during my contract negotiation in Austin last week
I was sitting in a conference room with my boss and HR, and they offered me a 3% raise. I had done market research showing I was underpaid by 15%, so I literally pulled up the spreadsheet on my phone during the meeting. They bumped it to 8% on the spot after seeing the data.

My old boss once tried to give me a pizza party instead of a raise, so I showed him my rent.

Saw a news article about this recently, @price.gavin. Some company tried to give their warehouse staff branded hoodies instead of hazard pay and the workers walked out. The disconnect between what bosses think we want and what we actually need is wild. Rent doesn't get paid with pepperoni.
